Adding a directory to exclusions list of an antivirus program is always a questionable practice, but I prefer to use https://www.virustotal.com service for checking all of my downloads before using it for the first time, and keep the folder c:\bin\rigutils in exclusions list of Windows Defender Antivirus to prevent it from false-positive detection of viruses in miners. Another option is to disable Windows Defender completely, but I would advise against such a radical action.

Never trust any file even from trusted sources. Always use virustotal.com service for checking of all of your downloads.
